Text message alerts

Last updated 19 August 2026

ShipTrace Alerts sends operational notifications about a customer's own shipments. This page shows exactly how a mobile number joins the programme, what it is told at the moment it joins, and how it leaves.

Who sends these messages

ShipTrace, LLC is the sole sender. Every message is sent by ShipTrace in its own name, to people who use ShipTrace, about packages tracked in ShipTrace. We do not send messages on behalf of any other business, we do not resell or lend this programme to anyone, and it carries no marketing, promotional, third-party or affiliate content of any kind.

Where a message names a company, it is naming the recipient’s own ShipTrace account so they know which packages the alert concerns. It is not an advertisement for that company or for anyone else.

Who receives messages, and how they opt in

ShipTrace has no public signup — we create every customer account ourselves — so numbers are never collected from a web form, purchased, rented, or shared between customers.

An account owner signs in to the ShipTrace portal, opens an alert, adds a recipient, ticks Text messageand enters that person’s mobile number. The box is unchecked by default and ticking it is what reveals the number field and the disclosure below.

That is a request, not consent. ShipTrace then texts the number once to ask, and it receives nothing further unless it replies YES.

What the person entering the number is shown

This is the opt-in control as it appears in the portal, uncropped, with the disclosure it carries:

By adding a mobile number you confirm you have that person’s permission to contact them. ShipTrace texts the number once to ask them to confirm. They receive package alerts only after replying YES, and replying STOP ends them permanently. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Privacy policy and terms.

Every message the programme sends

  • Once, when an account owner adds the number

ShipTrace: Your [company] team added this number for package alerts. Reply YES to receive them, STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Msg&data rates may apply.

  • Once, immediately after the number replies YES

ShipTrace: You are confirmed for [company] package alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.

  • When a tracked package reaches, leaves, or fails to reach a place

ShipTrace: PO-8842-PALLET-A was reported inside Dallas depot. https://app.shiptrace.ai/traces/abc123

Frequency, cost, help and stopping

Message frequency varies and depends on the customer’s own shipments and the alerts they configure. Message and data rates may apply; ShipTrace does not charge per message.

Reply HELP for help, or write to hello@shiptrace.ai. Reply STOP to stop all messages to that number permanently; a number that has replied STOP is never invited again. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party. See the privacy policy and terms of service.
